The Tumult And The Shouting Dies, The Captains And The Kings Depart. -

The tumult and the shouting dies, The captains and the kings depart. -Kipling, The Recessional Mr. Kipling was wrong. War does not always end with the last cry on the battlefield. World War I certainly did not. After the war formally ended on November 18, 1918, there was an ideological war still going on in the US. An ideological war which prompted mass paranoia and caused, among many other things, what would be known as the Red Scare, which began in 1919 and ended in 1921. Red Scare was the label given to the actions of legislation, the race riots, and the hatred and persecution of "subversives" and conscientious objectors during that period of time. It is this hysteria which would find itself repeated several decades later in history when Senator Joeseph R. Macarthy accused high government officials and high standing military officers of being communist. Undoubtedly the most important topic of an investigation into a historical occurrence is its inception. What caused the Red Scare ? At the heart of the Red Scare was the conscription law of May 18, 1917, which was put in place during World War I for the armed forces to be able to conscript more Americans. This law caused many problems for the conscientious objector to WWI, because for one to claim that status, one had to be a member of a "well-recognized" religious organization which forbade their members to participation in war. As a result of such unyeilding legislation, 20,000 conscientious objectors were inducted into the armed forces. Out of these 20,000, 16,000 changed their minds when they reached military camps, 1300 went to non-combat units, 1200 gained furloughs to do farm work, and 100 did Quaker relief work in Europe. 500 suffered court-martial, and out of these, 450 went to prison. However, these numbers are small in comparison with the 170,000 draft dodgers and 2,810,296 men who were inducted into the armed forces. Nevertheless, the conscientious objectors were targeted in the Red Scare after the war. They were condemned as cowards, pro-German socialists, although that was not everything. They were also accused of spreading propaganda throughout the United States. Very few conscientious objectors stood up for themselves. Roderick Siedenberg, who was a conscientious objector, wrote that "to steal, rape, or murder" are standard peacetime causes for imprisonment, but in time of war "too firm a belief in the words of Christ", and "too ardent a faith in the brotherhood of man" are more acceptable. Some organizations such as the National Civil Liberties Bureau, which would later be renamed the American Civil Liberties Union, took up the task of standing up for the rights of conscientious objectors. Before the war, the NCLB-ACLU opposed American involvement, and afterward defended the rights of the objectors. Later, the ACLU would gain a reputation for helping people with liberal cases who were too poor to pay for their own representation in court. After the real war ended in 19 18, the ideological war, which was gaining speed at home, turned against conscientious objectors and other radical minorities such as Wobblies, who were members of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), and Socialists as well. These Wobblies and Socialists were damned as being subversives who were trying to overthrow the United States government. Wobblies, in particular, were persecuted against for speaking out against the capitalist system. Although most of what they said was only to attract attention to their cause, their rhetoric was taken seriously by the government and its officials. From the very beginning of the Red Scare, the Wobblies were the subject of attack by the government, because they were a symbol of radicalism. The government put in place legislation, not only against the Wobblies, but also against Socialists and Communists, due to the fact that the government did not distinguish one of its enemies from another. One such action taken by the government prevente d Wobblies who were not yet citizens from naturalization, even if they quit their organization. In 1917, the US government made a law which gave the Secretary of Labor the power to arrest or deport any alien "advocating or teaching" destruction of property or the "overthrow of government by force." Free sample - Music. translation missing

Music. MusicOutline I. Introduction The term Haram implies â€Å"an act which is prohibited.† II. What are some of the reasons that some Muslims consider music to be Haram? There are a number of reasons which explain why some Muslims consider music to be Haram.    Introduction The term Haram implies â€Å"an act which is prohibited.† This is in accordance with the Islamic religion. The followers of this religion (the Muslims) consider the act of listening to any kind of music for instance, Soul, Religious, or even Rhythm and Blue to be an offense. Also, according to them, Islamic religion prohibits whichever form of singing, and usage of musical gadget(s) during this process. These acts according to this religion are enough reasons for disgusting our hearts. They are also responsible for waning it (the heart) (Miller and Shahriari 10). What are some of the reasons that some Muslims consider music to be Haram? There are a number of reasons which explain why some Muslims consider music to be Haram. One, in the holy book of Islam (the Koran), it is written that â€Å"any person who procures/buys redundant talks with the sole-purpose of giving fellow human being(s) the wrong impression regarding what God has commanded via ridicule shall severely be punished.† Scores of Islamic studies academicians across the globe have interpreted the expression ‘redundant or idle talk’. To them, this expression implies ‘chanting/singing’ (Hamditabligh). Two, in one occasion, Prophet Mohammed said that â€Å"some Muslims deemed a number of societal vices to be legitimate.† These include adultery, and consumption of alcoholic beverages. Others are donning of silk regalia and usage of musical gadgets during worship. He further stated that several followers of the religion shall stay out at the foothills of the ton/mountain from sun up to sun down waiting for the arrival of the marshals/shepherds. They shall be compelled to do this so as to pose a number of queries. However, the marshals shall inform them to go back to their respective places of residences, and return to the foothills the following day. Mohammed noted that â€Å"God shall completely destroy these followers throughout the night. Furthermore, he (Allah or God) shall use his superpowers to permit the ton to descend on them thereby destroying them completely (Hamditabligh). Mohammed in addition noted that Allah shall perform miracles and change those followers who will not have been destroyed into certain wild and domestic animals. These include monkeys and pigs. The transformed individuals shall stay in this form till renaissance. Many Muslim leaders and Islamic studies specialists have interpreted these remarks. They have suggested that Mohammed considered usage of musical gadgets to be illegitimate, and therefore no Muslim should attempt to do so. One of the specialists is Ibn Al-Qayyim. He authored a book which is known as ‘Ighathat Al-Lahfan.’ In this book, he argues that â€Å"Mohammed banned these vices, but mankind didn’t heed to this prohibition, and continues to perceive them (the vices) as legitimate† (Hamditabligh). Three, during his lifetime, Prophet Mohammed was asked by one of his follower â€Å"why he had stated that those individuals who worshipped, and offered sacrifices to God including those who believe that he (Mohammed) is Gods’ herald, and those who follow all the other Islamic teachings and laws shall be changed into animals.† The Prophet (Mohammed) answered him that this â€Å"is owing to their utilization of musical gadgets during worship.† Four, it is written in the holy book of Islam that God censured the worship of ‘Kuffar’s’ at a place called ‘Kaa’bah’. This implies that Allah, censured/criticized those Muslims who revered him at this place since they practiced ‘Muka'an’. Furthermore, they practiced ‘Tasdiyah’. In accordance with well known Islamic studies scholars, the term ‘Muka'an’ implies shrilling or whistling. The term ‘Tasdiyah’ on the other hand implies applauding/clapping of hands during singing. Five, it has well been documented by well known Islamic religion experts that the act of listening to any kind of music is a significant contributor to the reinforcement of the Devilish customs, and therefore, qualifies to be Haram. Also, they have argued that there is no single occasion in which the Messenger of God (Mohammed) in his lifetime together with his cohorts assembled so as to sing. In this regard, the academicians conclude that â€Å"no Muslim should partake in any form of singing.† Six, some Muslims argue that this act (of listening to music) over the radio and more has a higher likelihood of making the sentiments/emotions of the listener to turn out to be less zealous once he or she hears Islamic teachings. Scores of the followers of this religion also argue that musical gadgets/instruments belong to the devil.   Due to this reason, any person who pays attention to them (the musical instruments) shall thereafter boogie/dance very much. This person will on a prayer session pray rapidly. He-or she shall in addition pray while sitting as opposed to kneeling (Scott 23). Seven, Islamic religion requires every Muslim to declaim/recite the holy book during worship. However, according to well known academicians, any person who listens to music shall suffer from a number of mental disorders which will not allow him-or her to declaim it in the correct way. This individual will not fancy paying special attention to the holy book. He-or she cannot understand facts written in it (the Koran) during recitation. Secondly, the scholars have argued that the music listener cannot have any palate/flavor for it. Therefore, this person shan’t have adoration for the Koran. As a result, he or she will not derive gratification while studying it (the holy book). Eight, according to some Muslims, it is well written in the book of Ayah (Chapter forty three (43), and verse thirty six) that â€Å"any Muslim who commits sin will be made the Devils’ comrade by God.† Owing to the fact that most Muslims consider music to be Haram, then any person who listens to it shall be made the Devils’ comrade (Hamditabligh). Nine, some Imams have argued that the devil utilizes a number of tactics so as to ensnare those Muslims whose faith in Allah (God) is extremely low. Among them (the tactics) are clapping of hands during singing, and whistling.   These persons usually fail to follow Islamic teachings to the later owing to two main attributes. One of them is the lack of acumen. The second one is inadequate seriousness. Due to these attributes, most of these persons utilize musical gadgets. Also, they listen to music which is considered to be Haram. According to them, such persons engage in sinful acts. Moreover, they refuse to comply with laws that have been set out by our creator (Allah). These Imams have reiterated that the act of listening to music is similar to engaging in irresponsible sexual behaviors. These include incest, lesbianism, and sodomy. Others are infidelity and bestiality. Ten, some Imams have stated that Music is similar to Allah’s enemy (the devil). Also, they regard music to be a contributor of sour relationship between a person who listens to it, and our creator (Allah). They have squabbled/argued that Allah’s enemy has made those individuals whose allegiance to Allah is low to fall in love with chanting-or singing. He has also furnished them with misleading facts as a result of which they (music listeners) end up utilizing them as proof for the pleasure derived during singing. To them, all music listeners shall with time start following Allah’s enemy teachings. Due to this, they will cease reading the Koran so as to concentrate on these teachings (Devil’s teachings). They have squabbled that those people who have reached this stage normally rest in a cool place or inside the house, switch on the radio or the television, and permit their souls to pay attention to music. As a consequence, the devil in the form of music will make their souls to be extremely excited. Furthermore, he will make them to boogie/dance similar to a prostitute, or a male homosexual. Eleven, some of them have suggested that the act of listening to music makes the listener to appear as if he-or she has consumed an alcoholic beverage. This makes the listener’s soul to be split into debris. Also, it makes him-or her to craft an assortment of jokes regarding the Islamic religion. Music is also believed to be palatable to them as compared to the Islamic teachings. Muslims believe that if an individual listens to these teachings as opposed to music, then he or she shall not be punished by Allah. Twelve, Islamic religion considers music to be Allah’s enemy holy book. Most Imams across the globe have constantly reiterated that all those individuals who pay special attention to music do vend the good things offered to them by God to his enemy.   It is similar to a trader who buys a product at a certain price, and sells it at a loss. Therefore, it is needless for a person to listen to music or sing since he or she is likely to encounter immense losses. However, a person will derive the greatest delight when he or she recites the Koran (Miller and Shahriari 24). Thirteen, there is a Muslim Sheikh who was requested to make a comment regarding music. His name is Abdulaziz Bin Baz. The Muslim cleric argued that he only listens to music to derive gratification from it. As far as wedding ceremonies are concerned, Abdulaziz clarified that singers should only make use of Tambourine during singing. He stressed that this instrument should specifically be played by female adults. Fourteen, some Muslims argue it is a type of a game meant only to create fun. Due to this reason, they squabble that it does not contribute to the sacred growth of the listener and, thus inconsequential. Finally, some Muslims have stated that a lonesome person who is listening to any kind of music turns out to be more lonesome. On the other hand, a millionaire or a billionaire will feel extremely elated when listening to music. This means that the act of listening to music escalates the sadness in a sad individual. It also makes a glad person happier (Islam Newsroom).

The analysis on the basis of the years Year: 11 In the starting time of the year 11 the corporate lobby shoe plant capacity in relations to the total production was 6 million and mostly this production was target through the North America and Asia pacific areas. The production went higher for this two area but the company managers had for the Latin America and Europe Africa. The corporate lobby shoe plans its total production in particular operation and administration so the corporate lobby shoe had to sale target production like from North America it is 2 million and Asia pacific it is 4 million respectively. The corporate lobby shoe has making the policy and plan to encourage the production as its implies the policy of free shipping advertisement in internet also the offered the model with attractive price there would be rebate on the model at delivery time granted and as well as customer on internet segment and whole segment at the end of the financial year of the company the profit as much as contrasting from the previous year but as the company holds the 5th position in the market for the industry 27, and through this it jump from credit rating B+ to A- with the financial progress in terms of money would be like net profit is and revenue______ is which are higher than the previous year. The return on equity and credit rating are very much high as they are beyond the investors expectations as ROE the investors expectation is 15% but the 15.60% and in credit rating it goes form B+ TO A- Year 12: The overall intensions of the corporate lobby is to make the huge profits so they are planning to reduce their cost and covering the market, as they most probably cover the market in the whole sale segment but as they increase the private label sales from the year 12th their market shares fall from 8.50% to 8.10% respectively. The image rating also fall dramatically, as it was constant in the year 11. The stock price went high up to $2 per pair as in the year 11 the stock level was risen up to $34. Probably the investors are not happy in this year because the ROE and EPS were low were falling under the expectation of investors as in year 12 it was 14.39% almost 0.51% lacking and EPS was $2.71 where investors expect the $2.95. The pairs rejected in the brand were almost 7 to 8% approximately from 5300 pairs the rejection was 329 pairs. The company was not at all facing the inventory clearance in all the three segments with all the four areas. The ware housing operating expenses for the European Africa was very much high and the company was holding a huge amount of production in those areas as it was $2.03 per pair in whole sale segment and 0.80 in the internet segment. The operating profits margins where good in the internet sectors as we see overall performance it was 16.9% to 23.3% is due to bearing the advertising cost an imply the low cost branded wear. Year 13: This was the fabulous year for the corporate lobby shoes, as the company had not made any changes but the result and decision implied on the year 12 had been very much useful and their reflection is shown as only 0.20% were the expenses which the company sacrifice for the CSR as in terms of money it is $1121. The market share of the company was high as in year 12 the company had increased the private labelling sales as through the high market is covered. The credit rating of the company went high which from A- to A but the image rate fall by 6%. The value of stock price had huge increase as it shows how from the $36 was the expectation but in year 13 it went to the $64. As this year investors would also be very much happy the ROE and EPS has also shown the drastic changes as 15% was investors expectations in ROE but went high on 20.70% and EPS wet to $4.67 per share were as investors expectations was only 3.05%. The price of internet segment were deduce up to 70 so that the market share would increase the company had reduce its quality cost as the TQM or Sig -Sigma expenditures went low. Only 0.33 for the current year. The cost of branded market segment also reduces to 26.85 as it affects the quality and got the S/R rating on 4 stars. Year 14: The company increase its production in the North America. By 300 pairs and maintained the good quality control, so the rejection pairs was only 4 to 5% of total production in branded. The company had introduced the green footwear materials which would increase the cost as this time company also does the charitable contributions, so the CSR would be more conscious to crab the costumer, it expenses on CSR raise highly which is $7264. DUE TO HIGH EXPENDITURES the ROE and EPS falls as the NP reduces .The N.P. is $243(million) approximately. The manager decided to lower the price on internet segment from $ 70 per pair to $69 per pair. The warehousing expenses and other administrative expenses remains the same like for 17107(000) it had 3.65 per pair in ware house. The exchange rate and the import tariff for the Europe and Africa had increased the cost highly so the return through segment was low. The manger decide no sale the private label brand shoe north America as the production and shipping cost in private label segment went too much high, this would result in the low N.P. The company declare the $0.10 dividend per share for its investors through the previous profits. The firms internet segment market share is decreasing as compared to whole sale market share for the year 14. The Companys liquidity position is quiet well secured as its net cash balance at the year end is 51,061 which is reasonably good and worthwhile. The company had decided to raise funds as to overcome from this expensive cost from the banks of $23,000(000). Year 15 The mostly all the strategies and decisions remain the same as the above year but, there some changes occurs in figure only, as the N.P. went very much higher in the year 15 which was approximately 358 (millions) as well as the EPS was higher 5.80$ per share which was beyond the investors expectation. In this year the manager decided only to the company to work in the internet sector segment where as the private label segments was removed by the firm the company through to concentrate on whole sale segments and internet market segment in those area would give the company makes highest revenue which is Asia pacific and north America. The stock price again had shown the dramatically change by 104$ per stock price and the expectation of investor was 42$ so this credit rating of the company was A+ but the image rating were not up to the mark. In this for the north America area which is the most profitable area for the company manager decide to increase the production of 500(000) pairs which would indirectly reduce the cost of operating and increase the revenue the overall warehousing cost reduce as if the overall 24,037(000)pair kept it had cost 3.29 per pair. The manager decided to take a higher advertising cost in the whole sale segment as mostly 70% of production were from this sector. The company had decreased the cash flow as its net balance of cash comes 47,307$(000) as by the firm and this raise the high profits. The managers also agree to raise there were investment done by the firm and this raise the high profits. The manager also agrees to raise their funds in the energy efficiency help to gain the profit over its cost. The forecast the demand in future was high 6 to 7% of the current year sold out. Conclusion As we see there were huge and effective decisions were taken by the company which helps to increase the profit, as holding the decisions regarding saving cost, plant implementation and increasing production would led to the high profits.

The Republican Party in Sinclair Lewis Babbitt Essay -- Lewis Babbitt
